Srinagar: The Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW) Central University of Kashmir (CUK) today organised a medical camp for the students of the varsity. A team of doctors headed by senior Endocrinologist at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, (AIIMS) New Delhi, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Ganaie, examined the students, faculty members and other staff and collected their blood samples. Some of the samples were analyzed on the spot while as the rest were dispatched to the diagnostic laboratory for examination. Free consultation and medicine was also provided to the students and other participants.
DSW Director, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka, briefed the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir about the initiative taken by the DSW for providing medical facilities to the students in the campus. Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir hailed the step taken by DSW and asked it to hold such type of programmes in near future.
Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Ganaie, while speaking on the occasion said the main objective of holding such a medical camp was to sensitize the students and other staff about different health related issues and the ways and means to protect oneself from both the communicable and non-communicable diseases.
