SRINAGAR: Awami Action Committee (AAC) on Tuesday organised a blood donation and free medical camp in the premises of historic Aali Masjid in Eidgah.
The event was part of the AAC’s Hafta Shahdat program to pay homage to Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq, Shaheed-e-Hurriyat, Abdul Gani Lone, martyrs of Kashmir.
The event was inaugurated by AAC head and Chairman Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq by donating his blood.
Senior Hurriyat leaders including Shahid-ul Islam and Hilal Ahmad War also donated blood along with dozens of youth and AAC members.
On the occasion, senior doctors and HOD’s including Dr. Gul Javed, Dr. Nadeem, Dr Peerzada Rafi Ahmad, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Dr. Suhail, (Ortho) Dr. Samina Gul, Dr. Tajamul Hussain, Dr. Nazir Ahmad, Dr. Mushtaq, Dr. Anjali examined patients.
A team of Unani doctors of Haya hospital headed by Dr Feroz Naqshnandi also participated in the camp and conducted free clinical tests.
Addressing delegates of AAC at Khanyar, Mirwaiz stated that the movement started by Muhajar-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Yousuf Shah under the banner of Muslim Conference in 1931 was taken forward by Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq in 1964 by announcing the formation of AAC at Gol Bagh during a rally attended by lakhs of people.
“Inspite of all the difficulties and hurdles created in the path of the party to take forward its agenda, it has not given up its resolve and has always advocated and stood for the solution of Kashmir in accordance with the aspirations and sentiments of the people,” he said.
He also addressed the delegates of Nawakadal. “The people of old city both in terms of lives and property have offered great sacrifices for the cause of freedom,” Mirwaiz added.
Meanwhile, as per the programme, on May 20, after the Friday prayers, a massive rally will be organised at Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee Headquarters in Rajouri Kadal area of old city.
“Delegates of the organisation throughout the state will be participating.”
On the same day, the flag of the organisation would be unfurled at Shaheedi Chowk at Hawal.
