Srinagar: An extensive sanitation drive under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched at Kashmir University on Tuesday.
The drive was which was monitored by Commissioner SMC Bashir Ahmed Khan was organised by SMC in collabration with Law Department of Kashmir University.
Khan on the occasion stressed on the importance of sanitation in everyday life and its religious perspective..
“It is the social, moral and religious duty of every citizen of Srinagar to keep its city clean and restrict from littering roads, footpaths and outside the houses,” said Khan.
He further added that besides NGOs ànd various other concerned departments, young minds especially students can play a positive role in creating awareness about sanitation among households and various sects of society.
Besides students, SMC officials, ward staffers and more than 150 Sanitary workers had been deputed by Srinagar Municipal Corporation to take part in the drive.
During the drive, the entire premises of Kashmir University, including departments underwent sanitation.
Besides fumigating the entire area of Kashmir University, the water sprinklers for washing, hopper vehicles for lifting of garbage and the robots to clear the dust off the roads were put to service by SMC..
