Police assures re-investigation after protests

SRINAGAR: Hours after the forensic report was presented in Budgam court casting doubts on police claims and investigations into the Owais Bashir murder case, a group of family members and relatives held protests and blocked Airport road for several hgours.
The protesters shouted slogans and demanded justice and arrest of real culprit in the case.
The movement of the traffic remained halted for nearly three hours even as market was shut and announcements for launching protest demonstrations were made from mosques.
Later senior superintendent of police and tehsildar Budgam along with other police officials arrived on the scene and assured the family that the case would be re-investigated. “The Tehsildar gave a written note to family that the case will be reinvestigated within 10 days,” said a protester.
Bashir Ahmad Malik, Owais father said, “We have no trust on police which is why we asked them to give in writing that the case will be reinvestigated. But still we don’t trust their investigation and we are planning to write the authorities that the case should be handed over to Central Investigation Bureau.”
