Students protesting fee hike baton charged at KU

Srinagar: The police on Tuesday resorted to baton charge against scores of Kashmir University students, including females, protesting against the ‘300 percent examination fee hike’ of post-graduation courses.
Around a dozen of students received minor injuries while as 3 students fainted after police chased students with batons. The students, however, again assembled and continued protests for several hours.
The students earlier assembled outside the VC secretariat with play cards, which read ‘Education on Stake’ and ‘Examination or Loot’, and held peaceful demonstrations for several hours demanding revocation of the ‘fee hike’ order.
Meanwhile the notification regarding revision of examination fee has been uploaded on the KU website which says the order has been put in abeyance.
