JAMMU: Excise commissioner Tsering Angchuk chaired the monthly revenue review meeting of excise and taxation department here on Monday.
The meeting discussed and examined the over-all growth scenario of the revenue receipts of the department for the month of April, said a statement issued by information department. It was noticed that a revenue of Rs 86.66 crore was realized during April 2016 in comparison to Rs 70.42 crore realized during April 2015, with a growth of 23 percent, a definite upward trend in the revenue realization of the department.
Total excise revenue has shown a growth of 32 percent, toll revenue 18.10 percent while distillery revenue has shown a growth of 13.51 percent.
Excise commissioner appreciated the comprehensive drive launched by the excise sleuths for eradication and enforcement activity of the department for the purpose to arrest the menace of illegal smuggling of liquor/willow clefts, illicit distillation of liquor and other violations of the J&K Excise Act, 1958.
