SRINAGAR: A resident of Handwara appearing in grade-1 officer exam of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) fainted on Sunday after he was not allowed to sit in the examination due to missing surname in his documents.
According to witnesses, the candidate, Salim Anwar Bhat, didn’t have his surname mentioned on his admit card while his election and pan cards, which he showed to prove his identity, did mention it.
Anwar, they said, was thrown out when he tried to plead his case before the invigilators at his examination venue Government Women’s Polytechnic, Bemina.
“Anwar fell unconscious after his efforts to prove his identity before the officials failed,” they said. He was taken to a nearby health centre for check-up before he left for home, they said.
