SRINAGAR: Basigran cricket team beat Nambla Club in the summit clash of 7th edition Uri Premier League on Friday played at Uri.
The tournament organized by army witnessed pariciaption of around 48 local teams from Uri area.
Uri Premier League instituted by KALAPAHAR Brigade in 2010 to promote local talent and strengthen the bond between local Awam, specially the youth.
GOC, Dagger Division Major General JS Nain gave away the prizes to the winners and runners up teams.
The winning team received a cheque of Rs 30,000, while the runners up received a cheque of Rs 20,000
Speaking on the prize distribution ceremony Major General Nain, reaffirmed Army’s commitment in supporting local talent and urged the youth to make use of such opportunities to hone their technical and leadership skills and equip themselves to get selected in the state and National teams.
The spectators including Uri officials from civil administration of Uri tehsil, SDPO Uri, Sarpanches and locals witnessed an exciting and evenly contested match between the two teams.
