SKUAST develops high yielding oilseed variety KBS-49

Kulgam: Chairman Dr. B.L.Jalali who led Quinequineial Review Team (QRT) to Khudwani Centre of SKUAST-Kashmir on Saturday  lauded the research scientists for their significant contribution in the development of a good variety of brown sarson (KBS-49), besides developing production technologies relevant to Kashmir conditions.
The team also reviewed the progress made by the scientists during last 5 years in the field of Rapeseed-Mustard Research here.
While taking the review  QRT team (R&M) were quite impressed with the magnitude of research pursuits being undertaken at the station particularly in rice and mustard crops.
It is pertinent to mention that the KBS-49 has the yield potential of 14-15q/ha and is fits our the traditional paddy-oilseed rotation. The team on the occasion stressed upon the farmers to make use of latest technology and improved variety of mustard oil.
