SRINAGAR: Darul-Uloom Raheemiyyah on Saturday organised a conference on the contributions of Hazrat Imam-e-Aazam Abu Hanifa (RA) at Convocation Hall of Kashmir University here.
Darul-Uloom’s patron Maulana Rahmatullah Mir Qasmi, in his inaugural address, showcased the contributions, life and status of Imam Hanifa (RA).
“Imam Hanifa (RA) has performed Hajj 55 times in his life spanning just 70 years. He was a businessman, a scholar, a philanthropist and used to donate regularly to the downtrodden,” Qasmi said.
“Not only this, Imam Hanifa used to recite the whole Quran every night,” he said.
Maulana Dr Abdul Rahman, in his address, talked about the life sketch of the Imam and the need to follow a school of thought.
“I am Hanfi and I respect all the Imams. Even the great scholars of Islam like Imam Gazali, Imam Baghdadi, Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani, and others were from different school of thoughts and had differences of opinion,” he said, adding, “It is permissible for a scholar of their stature not for everyone and anyone.”
Maulana Rahman said having difference of opinion doesn’t mean there should be a fifth school of thought. “No doubt, the fifth school of thought is possible theoretically but practically it can never be. You cannot challenge the existing schools,” he said.
Darul Uloom Raheemiyyah’s Chief Mufti and Shaikh-ul-Hadees Mufti Nazir Ahmad Qasmi, Madrasa Muradabad (Shaahi)’s Patron and Shaikh-ul-Hadees Mufti Salman Mansoorpori, Darul Uloom Deoband’s Teacher Takhassus (specialization) in Hadees Maulana Abdullah Ma’roofi, Maulana Dr. Abdul Rahman from England, Darul Uloom Deoband’s Teacher Mufti Raashid, Madrasa Muradabad (Shaahi)’s Chief Mufti Shabir Ahmad and Darul Uloom Deoband vice chancellor Mufti Abul Qasim were among others who spoke on the occasion.
