Baramulla: The farmers and other residents of Pattan here protested on Thursday on the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti’s visit to north Kashmir after inauguration of super-fast trains.
The people gathered at the Pattan railway station to stage the protest. They said many of them who have provided land to the authorities for the construction of railway tracks were not paid by the authorities, while the poorly maintained walkways alongside the tracks were affecting their movement.
They also said that the residential areas were close to unfenced railways tracks, resulting in loss of lives.
The sub-district magistrate (SDM) Pattan, Hameeda Akhtar, the tehsildar concerned, and police officials reached the spot and convinced the residents to end the protest.
