Indian army foils infiltration bid along line of control; one soldier killed

SRINAGAR: The Indian army on Friday foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The troops noticed a group of terrorists trying to sneak into this side from across the LoC in Kupwara, an Army officer said.

A soldier,Sepoy Ramesh Chand Yadav, was killed during the encounter, the officer said.

The troops returned the fire triggering an encounter, the officer said. He said the operation was going on and further details were awaited.
