Pampore: The flood-hit traders of Saffron town Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district protested on Wednesday for the relief amount.
The traders blocked the Srinagar-Jammu highway for about half an hour and shouted slogans against the government for not releasing flood relief promised by to them.
The flood-hit traders questioned the silence of government.
The protest affected the movement of vehicles on the highway, with commuters facing inconvenience.
The station house officer Pampore arrived at the spot to negotiate with the protesters.
The administration later released Rs 40 lakh in favour of the protesting traders and assured them that the remaining amount would be released soon.
