SHAH-E-HAMDAAN CRICKET TOURNAMENT
SRINAGAR: Mantaqui Cricket Club beat Zadid Cricket Club II, Risipura by seven wickets in the inaugural match of Shah-I-Hamdan T20 cricket tournament played at Tsaraligund on Monday.
According to a handout issued by army the aim of the tournament is to provide a platform to the young cricketers to showcase their talent in a competitive environment.
“The 18 day long tournament which commenced from May 1 in which 36 teams from all over Kashmir valley are participating. The tournament is being played on knockout basis, it added.
The statement added “The participants and spectators hailed the initiative and expressed hope that such fixtures will boost the bond between the Army and the youth and will provide them a platform to prove themselves for higher levels.”
The tournament is oranised by army as part of Chinar Corps Centenary celebrations, under Sadbhawana, to promote budding cricketers from Awantipura and Tral area.
Earlier the tournament was inaugurated by SP, Awantipura Sridhar Patil, who was the chief guest along with the Commanding Officer of the Rashtriya Rifle Battalion.
