SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani, on Monday said New Delhi continues to hatch conspiracies to change the Muslim majority status of Jammu and Kashmir into a minority. He said India is not concerned of the people of Kashmir but its land.
Addressing a press conference here at his Hyderpora residence, Geelani said Islam and Muslims are the main targets of the Indian state.
“RSS and BJP want to convert our Valley of Saints into a Hindu Rashtra. Worst part is that local pro-India parties are assisting these forces in every possible way in fulfilling their agenda in the state,” he said.
“To cover J&K under NEET, the building of concrete structures by Indian occupational forces, the unsympathetic attitude towards Urdu language, are all part of the conspiracies hatched against us,” he said.
The Hurriyat (G) chairman said that among the terrorist activities across the world, the “state terrorism” is the worst.
“US, UK, France, China, India etc; all commit state terrorism. These imperialist countries blame Muslims for terrorism only to hide their own anti-human activities,” he said.
Geelani appealed people to support and strengthen his party Tehreek-e-Hurriyat which he said is based on Islam and freedom of Jammu Kashmir.
When asked about his successor, Geelani said, “As far as Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is concerned, they know what to do after my demise.”
And for the conglomerate Hurriyat (G), which has about 25 constituent parties, Geelani said there is Majlis-e-Mashawarat (advisory council) to decide that. “So, please don’t disturb me with such questions,” he said on a lighter note.
