Hurriyat (G) condemns Mirwaiz’s house arrest, restrictions on Seerat conference

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Sunday condemned the restrictions over the participation of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in the Seerat conference and placing him under house arrest.
A spokesman of the conglomerate in a statement issued here said the PDP-BJP coalition government has turned the whole state into a “major jail”.
“The restrictions over the funeral prayers and the Seerat Conference are the worst kind of state terrorism and direct interference into the religious affairs. This is intolerable,” he said.
He said these restrictions are an alarm for the upcoming grave situation. “It has given birth to the apprehension that a well-planned programme has been formulated to saffronise this Muslim majority state,” he said.
He said J&K is directly ruled by RSS and “even the orders for small administrative issues come from Nagpur”. “The citizen rights of the people are already snatched and the political activities stand banned. Now, the Sangh Parivar has started a new campaign against the religious matters of Muslims of the state,” he said.
“Sad part is that the state administration and police are providing every possible help in the implementation of this plan. They are in race of proving themselves more loyal than the king. Mehbooba Mufti is surrendering before BJP over every issue,” he said.
The spokesman said such “state terrorism” had, in past, failed to suppress the freedom sentiments of Kashmiri people. “This will only increase the political uncertainty and instability in Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.
