SRINAGAR: A sensible knock of 46 runs by Imran Nazir helped Gund Night Hawks to clinch the title trophy defeating Haknar Hurricanes by five wickets in the summit clash of Syed Jaffar Cricket Tournament (R.A) played at Ganderbal on Sunday.
Batting first after winning the toss Haknar Hurricanes put a formidable total of 164 on the board. Ajaz Ahamd was in belligerent mood from the word scoring quick fire 35 from just 12 balls. He took full advantage of wayward bowling performance by Gund bowlers and smashed to every corner of the park.
Arif Akhoon was the successful bowler for Gund Night Hawks claiming brace of wickets.
Chasing a target of 165 Gund openers Imran Nazir (46) and his partner Sohail (34) provided a solid start to their side and their good work was carried forward by Nasir Rafiq who was promoted up in the batting used long handle hitting some lusty hits and helped his side to achieve the target in 18th over with five wickets in hand.
Imran Nazir for his sensible knock of 46 was adjudged man of the match while Arif Ahmad who took 28 wickets in the tournament walked away with man of the series award.
PDP leader Bashir Ahmad MIr who was the chief guest on the prize distribution ceremony gave away the prizes, several respected personalities of the area also witnessed the match.
