ANANTNAG: Senior Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader and state president, Sat Sharma, on Sunday said his party won’t field any candidate but support the chief minister in by-polls for Anantnag assembly seat.
“BJP will support the chief minister in the assembly by-polls and will not field any candidate for the seat. We are yet to decide whether to go alone or with PDP in the local bodies or Panchayat polls but our workers are ready for both elections,” Sharma told reporters here.
Reacting against the NC patron, Farooq Abdullah’s statement that Kashmiris love Pakistan, Sharma said, “Such statements are issued only for political interests. The reality is that every Kashmiri youth is Indian and wants development and prosperity. Leaders should refrain from making such remarks as it only creates hatred.”
Asked about the settlement of non-locals in Kashmir under a central sponsored scheme, the BJP state president said, “Government is seriously thinking over the matter. I myself wish the issue shouldn’t create any problem. As of now, we want to start a phase of development as Mufti Sahib’s death already caused a delay in this regard,” he said.
Over the NIT episode, Sharma said “agencies are probing the matter and the management is also keeping a close watch on the things”.
