SRINAGAR: Pro-freedom camp on Monday paid tributes to prominent leader S Hameed on his 18th anniversary, while several leaders visited the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Eidgah here to participate in the prayer meeting.
As per a statement issued here, senior leaders and activists of Hurriyat Conference (M) visited the Martyrs Graveyard, Eidgah and offered special prayers for him.
Recalling the sacrifices of S Hameed, they said, “These sacrifices cannot be repaid. Despite bearing the brunt of atrocities since last seven decades, Kashmiris continue to carry forward the resistance movement with steadfastness and valour.”
They also called upon the international community to take note of the “aggression” carried by the state on Kashmiris.
The conglomerate’s chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, its spokesman, Advocate Shahid-ul-Isam, and others continue to be under house arrest.
As per a statement issued here, a delegation of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) also participated in the prayer meeting.
Senior Hurriyat Conference leaders including the heads of Islamic Political Party Mohammad, Yousuf Naqash and Muslim Democratic League, Hakeem Abdul Rashid also visited the Martyrs’ Graveyard Eidgah and paid homage to S Hameed.
“Youth of this nation have given valuable sacrifices which need to be preserved and taken to logical conclusion. The brutal forms of state-sponsored violence like arrests, tortures, and killings have made our youth feel unsafe safe. Despite all odds, Kashmiris would achieve their goal,” they said.
Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), in a statement issued here, also paid tributes to S Hamid, saying, “Shaheed S Hemeed was a great son of soil and his sacrifices will always be remembered.”
