SRINAGAR: Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik on Thursday slammed the state government over demanding compensation to the families of those killed in government forces’ firing in Handwara since last couple of days.
In a statement issued here, Malik said, “Rulers and assembly members are playing hypocritical politics over Handwara and Kupwara brutal killings. Today, they are begging before their masters in Delhi to compensate the families of those killed by forces. We want to ask them, do they think these young boys are sheep and goats or sacrificial animals that they can put on sale. Nobody and nothing can compensate their lives. Those putting human lives on sale cannot but be termed as uncivilised and barbaric.”
“Such is the shamelessness of these people that instead of arresting the killers, they have launched war against the innocent youth and arrested hundreds from last two days,” he said.
Malik also rejected the probe ordered by the government saying, “These investigations are announced only to hoodwink the people, pacify the public anger, and provide a clean chit to killers.”
“The history of these probes speaks volumes about their validity and genuineness. How can an oppressor investigate his own crimes and penalise his own men,” Malik said.
As per statement, Malik who was arrested by police on April 10 in a nocturnal raid is suffering from high fever. “Despite ill, he (Malik) is lodged in police station and is feeling very weak,” the statement said.
