Chickens – Latest victim of teargas shelling in Kashmir


HANDWARA: Around 100 chickens were, on Friday, suffocated to death when a teargas shell exploded near the farm in Handwara town of north Kashmir’s Kupwara disrict.

“There were about 100 chickens in my farm. All died today (Friday) due to suffocation from the teargas shelling,” Mushtaq Ahmad Rather told Kashmir Reader.

Rather who deals in poultry at Bhat Mohalla area of Handwara said, “Soon after the Friday prayers, police fired teargas shells at the mourners. And one of shell exploded near my farm killing all my birds.”

“I gave them water as I had heard water can relive birds of shock but nothing happened,” Ahmad said, adding, “He too is feeling dizzy due to obnoxious smoke in the area.”
