Baramulla: Body of Maqsood Ahmad Shah, a shawl seller and father of four children who was found murdered in Jalandhar district of Punjab on Saturday, is being brought to his native place in Kupwara.
Punjab police handed over the body of the deceased to his family members after autopsy on Sunday, said assistant superintendent of police Somnath Singh.
Shah’s body was recovered from a nallah. He had been strangulated with telephone wire and his forehead and nose had been battered.
The family had lost contact with him on April 4. His phone was switched off and other Kashmiris in the place had no idea of his whereabouts.
Somnath said, “We have launched a search for the killers and hope we will arrested them soon.”
Mourners made a beeline to the home of the deceased in Dardpora village of Kupwara.
