Sopore: A large number of women, along their children, staged protest against the recently implemented NFSA in the state and blocked the Sopore- Bandipora road near police station Sopore.
The protesters from Arampura, Chinkipura, Kraltang and Muslim Peer etc assembled at the tehsil road chanted slogans against the Act. A good number of children also took part in the protests. The protestors demanded rollback of NFSA from the state.
The protesters said that the government is rubbing salt on their wounds by providing 7kg of ration per head. “The administration should look into the hardships of people as 7kg per head for a month is insufficient,” they said.
Demanding its rollback, the residents appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to redress the genuine problems as soon as possible.
The protest continued for an hour as no police or any official from local administration came to the spot to listen to their grievances. The protestors dispersed peacefully.
