Kota: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the caretaker of a shelter home for seers near Dussehra Maidan here, police said on Wednesday.
However, the medical examination of the victim has ruled out rape.
Mahant Preetamdas Maharaj (55) on March 25 took the girl in his room in a shelter home for seers and allegedly raped her there, Sub-Inspector Shambu Dayal said.
The girl narrated the incident to her parents who later filed a complaint with police on March 26. Her father also accused police of delaying registration of an FIR.
The FIR was registered on April 3 under Section 376 (rape) of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The medical examination of the girl was conducted yesterday (Tuesday) but the report “ruled out” rape, Dayal said.
The victim’s statement was today (Monday) recorded before a magistrate, he said.
Efforts are on to nab the accused, the Sub-Inspector said, adding a probe is underway in the matter.
Meanwhile, irate locals yesterday (Tuesday) protested in front of Kishorepura police station demanding arrest of the accused.
