SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani, on Saturday said it is “investigating” the involvement of “state machinery” in the group clashes at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hazratbal.
“While harassment of Kashmir students outside the state has become a routine, similar incident happening at home is shocking for me. This (beating and use of force against Kashmiri students) is not possible without the backing of state-machinery. We smell a rat in the whole episode,” Geelani said in a statement issued here.
“If state-machinery is found involved, we will conduct a meeting to plan a future course of action against it.”
Terming the incident as “intolerable”, Hurriyat (G) chairman said it can give rise to a burning situation in J&K.
“People will take every possible step to ensure the safety and security of their children,” he said.
Geelani advised the non-local students to “ponder why Kashmiris are against your country”.
“The non-Kashmiri students must go through the history of the Kashmir dispute. They must know that till India continues its military occupation here, Kashmiris will continue to vent out their anger against this country, at all occasions.”
