Srinagar: Ahead of Mehbooba Mufti’s takeover as first woman Chief Minister of J&K, the Peoples Democratic Party has initiated a restructuring process as all top office-bearers excluding President Mehbooba Mufti have tendered resignations from their posts.
“PDP office bearers Nizamudin Bhat, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Ved Mahajan, Mehboob Iqbal, party general secretaries and Political Advisor to President Peerzada Mansoor Hussain have resigned and relinquished their offices with immediate effect,” a spokesman of the party said.
The resignations have been tendered to pave the way for party restructuring, the spokesman added.
Sources said the restructuring indicates that Mehbooba Mufti may drop some people who were in the council of ministers of her father and assign them the work of looking after party affairs. The reshuffle may also find some previous office-bearers making it to the council of ministers.
