Srinagar: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has asked the new political dispensation, which is about to assume office within a few days, to maintain the tempo of governance and administrative responsiveness, as witnessed during Governor’s rule.
In a statement issued here on Friday, KCCI spokesman said: “His (Governor NN Vohra’s) tenure has shown general public the impact a capable and competent leadership has on the administration and a roadmap for effective future governance is in place.”
The spokesman added: “The KCC&I would like to remind the incoming political dispensation about the dream they sold to the common masses, who were reeling under the trauma of the September floods. The people’s expectations were high. In the following months, the expectations were dashed to ground. In hindsight, a common man cannot be faulted for wondering as to why governor’s rule was not imposed immediately after the September floods. The situation would have been much better in terms of relief and rehabilitation.”
KCC&I, meanwhile, urged the Mehbooba Mufti to look towards unlocking the potential and resources within the state. “We need to put the proverbial bowl down and work together for creating an environment where our people excel. The common man is looking forward for a corruption free, transparent and accountable government,” said the statement, adding, “We at KCC&I hope they come to the expectations of the people. The credible leadership and a team with a sense of purpose is a precondition.”
The statement further said that the KCC&I will be enumerating important economic sectors and their problems. “We hope that they will be well received.”
