Kashmiris indebted to martyrs like Guru: Malik

Srinagar: Remembering the martyrdom of Dr Abdul Ahad Guru, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik on Thursday said that the Kashmiris are indebted to martyrs like Dr Abdul Ahad Guru who laid down their lives for freedom of Jammu Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Malik said that despite being highly educated and internationally established surgeon, Dr Guru actively participated in freedom struggle and laid down his life for the sacred cause.
He said that Dr Guru was a legend who will always be remembered for his, struggle, humanity and excellence in the field of medical profession, social work, philanthropy and sacrifice.
Malik said that the freedom struggle of Kashmir was started and cherished by the blood of intellectuals, Ulema, social leaders, teachers, lawyers, and personalities like Ishfaq Majeed Wani, Doctor Abdul Ahad Guru, professor Abdul Ahad Wani, advocate Jalil Indrabi, Doctor Gh. Qadir Sofi Turabi, Mufti Jamal ud din, Pilto Nadeem Khateeb ,Advocate Ghulam Qadir Sailani , Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah ,Moulana Shahbeer Sideeqi, professor M Ramzan, who despite all odds joined the ranks of struggle and embraced martyrdom.
“A ‘Sarai’ for the poor patients and their attendants’ outside Burzalla hospital still remind us about his philanthropy. The mosques and Darasgah opened by him remind us about his Islamic belief and wisdom,” Malik said in a statement.
Meanwhile a blood donation camp was organized today at Hameed Blood bank Abi Guzar were scores of people including students, traders, JKLF leaders and activists donated their blood for the welfare of humanity.
