SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, on Wednesday directed the officials to ensure availability of transport in evening hours in Srinagar city.
Dr Samoon was speaking to members of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kashmir, who called upon him to discuss the problems being faced by the public and business fraternity.
The divisional commissioner directed the RTO Kashmir and Traffic Police to ensure that public transport remains available from 6pm to 8 pm in the city, so that people don’t face any problems.
During the meeting, Dr Samoon directed the officials of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and traffic police to act tough against the shopkeepers and vendors whose encroachment upon roads hampers traffic and pedestrian movement.
He also asked SMC to issue notices to the encroachers and launch a special drive against violators.
Dr Samoon also asked the SP City Traffic, Maqsood-ul-Zamaan, to act tough against traffic violators.
