PATNA: In the ongoing 5th edition of All India Football Tournament for ‘Bihar Cup’ 2016 J&K Bank outplayed Dugapur XI West Bengal by three goals to one in the second league group match here at Kankarbagh Sports Stadium Patna.
Starting on a slow pace affected by hot weather conditions J&K Bank Team made some early attempts but Durgapur defense had a busy time giving no chance to the opponents. Both the teams failed to score and first half ended at goalless scoreline. In the second half Durgapur XI got the breakthrough in the 53rd min with a fine placed goal from left flank. After conceding a goal J&K Bank got the wakeup call turning things around and created aggressive moves which resulted a penalty kick in their favour. Experienced and Ace playmaker Rizwan Shiekh made no mistake to convert the same and equalized the score for his team. Young lad Farhaan made a superb overlap run and finished superbly in the 71st min giving his side a lead of 2-1. Striker Adnan’s powerful shooter from outside penalty area stunned the Durgapur custodian as he failed to stop the ball going into the net in the 85th min of the match. Match ended at 3-1 scoreline, J&K Bank grabbing all 3 points. With this win J&K Bank are topping the table with 4 points and last group match scheduled on 31st March against Mahipalpur Punjab will decide the semifinalist lineups.
The tournament is registered with All India Football Federation and is being organized by Patliputra Sports Foundation under the aegis of Bihar Football Association.
