SRINAGAR: Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad has strongly condemned the imposition of President’s Rule in Uttrakhand saying that it amounts to “murder” of democracy and is indeed a “black day” for the country.
Castigating the BJP led Centre Govt., Azad said that earlier a democratically elected government of Congress party was toppled in Arunachal Pradesh by sheer abuse of power and money, and today the same script has been re-created in Uttrakhand.
“It is a blatant and brazen display of authoritarian, anti-democratic and anti-constitution mindset of the Modi Govt.”, said Azad adding that today’s action is grim reminder of the threat that the democratic institutions of the country are facing.
Azad said that Narendra Modi led BJP Government at the Centre has breached all records in trampling the democratic norms & constitutional traditions, the way it has been abusing and misusing the institution of Governors to bring down the democratically elected Congress Govt. in the States.
Describing the toppling of democratically elected Government of Congress Party led by Harish Rawat in Uttrakhand asstrangulation of the aspirations of the people of Uttrakhand, Azad said that they will give a befitting reply to the BJP for its intoxication & arrogance of power.
