Srinagar: As part of activities aimed at proving dignified livelihood opportunities to families headed by widows of underprivileged section, J&K Yateem Foundation and State Horticulture Department jointly organized day long training programme, under ATMA (Agricultural Technology Management Agency) Scheme at Fruit Craft Centre, Lal Mandi here. Over four dozen women attended the training programme.
During the programme the experts explained the techniques on procedures to learn the conversion of various fruits and vegetables into jams, pickles and other types of processed foods to enable them to earn dignified livelihood on the basis of their skill.
Horticulture officer R.K. Tikoo apprised the participants about various welfare schemes of the department meant for needy and underprivileged sections of society.
Deputy Director and Chief Training Instructor Gul Sayed talked about the economic benefits of conversion of vegetables and fruits into the processed items.
JKYF District Representative Srinagar Mohammad Iqbal Beigh extended gratitude to the department. He stressed the need of creating opportunities for underprivileged women to become skilled for earning dignified livelihood.
