Hurriyat (G) demands release of Nowhatta minor

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Friday demanded release of 10-year-old Mohammad Islami Khan of Nowhatta.
In a statement issued here, the conglomerate said his continuous detention and registration of FIRs against him was the “worst face of the tyrannical rule the world has ever seen”.
Hurriyat (G) appealed the Amnesty International, international child right organisation, UNICEF, and other human rights bodies to take notice of his detention and use their influence for his immediate release.
“Such example of registering an FIR against a 10-year-old child is hard to find anywhere in the world. It happens only in Kashmir where the state institutions itself abuse the state constitution and law.
“The civil administration exists on papers only while all authority lies in the hands of police and Indian army who whenever they wish, kill anybody, and imprison anyone without any reason,” it said.
The armed personnel are not answerable to anybody here “nor does the civil administration hold any power to restrict their will”, the conglomerate said.
