SRINAGAR: Legislator Engineer Rashid on Tuesday accused PDP leadership of hurting the sentiments of people of the state and sacrificing its own self-respect for power.
Addressing a public gathering at HMT here, Rashid said: “The people of Kashmir are neither beggars nor do they wanted some meagre concessions from New Delhi. They have been distancing from Sang Pariwar because of its communal attitude.”
Terming the ‘Agenda of Alliance’ as a “move to hide PDP’s failures”, Rashid said Mehbooba needs to understand that Kashmiris have rejected the “so-called Agenda of Alliance from day one as they had serious concerns and reservations with BJP ideology”.
“Mehbooba was expecting to persuade Modi to offer dialogue to Hurriyat leadership for the permanent resolution of Kashmir dispute, talks on self-rule, assurance that BJP will respect the state’s special status including Article-370, separate flag and constitution, but BJP made her to surrender shamelessly and all her tall claims have been dashed to earth,” he said.
Rashid said Mehbooba “should have surrendered on the very first day after Mufti sahib’s demise rather making things suspicious and sensational for about two months”.
“Mehbooba is answerable as to what stopped her from going for fresh polls or forging an alliance with the secular forces when everybody asked her the same. She must understand if the battle was about the return of power projects, financial packages, and other routine issues, then BJP was the better choice for the people of J&K,” he said.
MLA Langate also questioned what he termed as “disappearance of PDP’s so-called self-rule formula”. He said people expected Mehbooba “will rectify huge mistakes committed by PDP leadership in the past and prefer to dissolve the assembly, but now, it is obvious that she was sincere neither to people nor to her own agenda”.
