SRINAGAR: Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) XI made their way into the quarter-final of 24th State Football Championship on Thursday. In the pre-quarter final CAPD XI beat District Football Association (DFA) Sopore by 2-0 goals played at synthetic turf TRC Ground.
It was a pathetic display by the home side as all the three departments did not function well.
Complete lack of understanding and poor combination did DFA Sopore in as the first half belonged to CAPD XI in which scored the only goal in the 25th minute when striker Arshid Aziz put the ball in the net. The score-line remained 1-0 in favor of CAPD XI at the end of first half.
In second half DFA Sopore made several moves to score equalizer and in the 75th minute of the game were awarded penalty but failed to convert it into goal. In the dying moments of the game CAPD XI doubled the lead when mid-fielder Tahir Ahmad put the ball in the net.
