SRINAGAR: Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar, contacted Mohali, Chandigarh, police on Monday to discuss the harassment of Kashmiri students.
An official spokesman said that Kumar called SSP Mohali and discussed different aspects with him regarding the incident which took place on March 15 at village Chilla in Sector 81 of Mohali.
He enquired from the SSP the facts that led to the untoward incident in which some Jammu and Kashmir students were harassed by some locals.
Rajendra was told that FIR has already been registered against the culprits and speedy investigation is going on.
He asked the SSP to take stern action against the accused involved in the incident and book them under law.
He also asked the SSP to take all preventive measures to avoid such incidents in future and ensure the safety of JK students.
The DGP said J&K students studying in other states should not feel insecure and that steps at different levels should be taken to ensure a sense of security in them.
