SRINAGAR: Awami Itihad Party (AIP) president and MLA Langate, Abdul Rashid, on Monday appreciated the state’s Sikh community for “not leaving the Valley like Kashmiri Pandits and resisting against all odds”.
He also accused the state and investigating agencies of delaying the probe into the Chattisinghpora massacre, which, he said, “was carried out to create a wedge between the two communities”.
According to a statement issued here, Rashid, while addressing a function organised at Chattisinghpora, paid tributes to the 35 slain persons.
“It is the right of every Kashmiri to know about the real story and facts about the massacre but security agencies have let people down by failing to expose the killers. Rather than bringing facts before the world community, the agencies shamefully murdered 5 innocent civilians to cover up the incident and create divide between the two communities, but their nefarious designs got exposed,” he said. He said successive governments only made “hollow” promises to bring the killers to justice while as “their every act seems an attempt to cover up the massacre, thus making things more confusing and doubtful”.
