Srinagar: PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday described the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “positive”.
Soon after meeting Modi, Mehbooba told reporters that she would take the final call on Thursday after meeting her party legislators in Kashmir.
“I will go back (Srinagar) and discuss with my legislators how to move ahead,” she told reporters. The PDP has called a legislators party meet on Thursday where it is believed Mehbooba would be nominated as legislature party leader.
The meeting between the two would likely end the stalemate over the government formation in J&K.
On Monday afternoon, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti left for New Delhi to resume talks with the saffron party leadership after the BJP categorically refused to accept new demands.
Mehbooba’s meeting Modi has renewed hopes that the two former coalition partners would stitch the alliance again. The hopes were rekindled after union finance minister Arun Jaitley assured on Sunday that his party was committed to the ‘agenda of governance’ in J&K.
