Pampore: Six shopkeepers have been arrested in Pampore and Awantipora areas of Pulwama district for allegedly black marketing of the essential commodities that are in short supply due to closure of the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, a police spokesman told Kashmir Reader.
There have been that some shopkeepers in Pampore and Awantipora areas were selling goods, especially essential commodities, on exorbitant rates.
On the directions of SP Awantipora Sridhar Patil and SDPO Parvaiz Ahmad, police launched a special drive against the erring shopkeepers.
“During the market checking, six shopkeepers who were selling goods without rate list and at exorbitant rates were arrested in Pampore and Awantipora area. Six cases were registered under Essential Commodities Act against them. During checking many expired soft drink bottles and three domestic gas cylinders were also seized which were being used for commercial purpose,” police said.
