Rashid asks admin to resolve Eidgah garbage problem

SRINAGAR: Awami Itihad Party (AIP) president and MLA Langate, Er Rashid, on Saturday accused government of using state machinery to crush the genuine voice of people of Eidgah who demand resolution of garbage issue in the area.
As per a statement issued here, Rashid while visiting the area assured full support to the people for their “genuine cause”.
“Rather than finding an amicable solution to the people’s issue, government is using state machinery to crush their voice, which is condemnable. Governor should have taken serious note of the grave problem and directed his administration to find some acceptable solution to the problem,” he said.
Rashid said government is responsible for non-implementation of scientific disposal of the garbage or relocation of the dumping site. “There is every reason to say that successive officers in the urban development department (UDD) have looted the money which was supposed to be spend over the project and due to failure and poor response of the administration, people have been forced to take to streets.”
