SRINAGAR: Residents of Boatman Colony Bemina, mainly women, on Saturday protested against the National Food Security Act (NFSA) demanding its immediate revocation.
They said five kg ration is not enough to meet their food demand.
The protesters shouted anti-government slogans and showed their anger with singing traditional folk, “Aes na punjaib dal chut khemo” (We are not like Punjabis who can survive on Pulses and Chapati) .
“We consume rice and if the authorities will provide us with a few kilograms of rice, how will we survive,” said a protesting woman.
The protesters said that they belong to poor community and rely on government ration stores. “In the absence of agriculture land where from we will get ration,” she asks.
