Bandipora: Incessant rains during the last 48 hours have triggered flash floods and landslides in upper hilly areas of Bandipora. Landslides at Saderkoot Bala resulted in a blockade on the Srinagar-Bandipora highway, which is already inundated at many places, with vehicles remaining stranded. Commuters are taking alternative routes via Hajin and Sopore to reach Srinagar.
Continuous rains have played havoc in the area as many residential houses are on the verge of collapse.
Flash floods washed away 35 sheep in Quil Muqam of Bandipora. However, no loss of human life was reported.
Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, told Kashmir Reader that the administration was closely monitoring the situation. An emergency meeting of all the concerned departments like Beacon, BRO, flood control etc has been called to address any untoward situation arising due to the rains. He added that road connectivity has been restored and many teams have been fanned out to different areas to help the people who are stranded.
