Former Chief Education Officer Jammu, booked for ‘illegal’ appointments

JAMMU: Vigilance Organisation Jammu (VOJ) on Saturday registered a case against former Chief Education Officer Jammu, Tarsem Lal for abusing his official position to appoint ReTs illegally and in violation of the prevalent norms.

The case has been registered under section 5(1) (d) read with 5(2) J and K PC Act 2006 and Sections 120-B in the VOJ police station.

The FIR has been lodged in pursuance to Joint Surprise Check conducted by Vigilance Organisation, to verify the allegations regarding bungling made in the appointment of the ReTs and opening of a primary school at School Dhar Chhani Dowano Mohalla, Sardaran Da . It was revealed that the primary school was opened in 2014 only on papers. Also the decision was in violation of SSA norms regarding the population and strength of students. Moreover, there was no proposal for the same. The school existed for a month before being merged with the already existing primary school, the VOJ said in a statement issued on Saturday.

It has been further found that the aforesaid school was opened to accommodate the beneficiaries as ReTs. The CEO Jammu has also violated government orders with regard to the procedure required to be adopted in the selection for recruitment of teachers – Amarjeet Singh Pujwal and Mandeep Kour.
