Eight persons including 7 cops injured at Khrew

Pampore: Seven policemen including a Division Officer (DO) and a civilian were injured after locals at Khrew area attacked a police party who had been called to clear the blocked road to three villages after two truck unions in the area could not reach to any agreement.
The Khrew residents allegedly have blocked the road from last many days after a new truck union was floated by Nagandar, Satpukhran and Zanatrag villages.
The Khrew residents had attempted to cut the area from rest parts of the Pampore town after they dug out the link road on Wednesday which served as an alternative to them. BMO Pampore Dr Saba said one civilian was admitted in sub district hospital Pampore with injuries in hand.
Superintendent of police Awantipora, Sridhar Patil said that the residents had blocked the road leading to some other villages and police had gone to clear that.
“Soon after the police party reached the spot they (villagers) were attacked leading injury to two policemen,” he said. An FIR bearing number 50/2016 under section 307, 332, 353, 427, 341, 147, 148 RPC has been registered at police station Pampore, he said.
