SRINAGAR: The state administration announced on Friday that the consumer in Jammu and Kashmir would start getting food-grains online from June 1.
An official handout issued here said the secretary Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) department, Sourabh Bhaghat, convened a meeting to discuss modalities for starting the online allocation of food-grains in the state.
He directed the authorities concerned to identify two districts each from Kashmir and Jammu on pilot basis for initial online allocation along with offline allocation for the month of April and May.
“To streamline the distribution network and make it more transparent, online allocation of food-grains would be implemented across the state. Besides, Fair Price Shops would also be automated by installing point of sale devices at earliest,” he said.
The secretary said this would help, to a large extent, in plugging pilferages and ensuring effective implementation of NFSA.
