SRINAGAR: Amid growing controversy across India over chanting of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah has questioned whether BJP will set the slogan as a “condition” for PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti to form the government in the state.
“Is Mehbooba Mufti also going to be asked to chant #BharatMataKiJai as a condition for Govt formation in J&K? cc @BJP4India #Maharashtra,” Omar tweeted on late Wednesday evening.
Omar, in a statement on Wednesday, also made sarcastic remarks over the delay in government formation by PDP-BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, saying, “Given the performance of the governor’s administration, people would like the PDP and BJP to keep talking to each other.”
Controversy over the slogan started when All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said he would not chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.
