JK Bank security guard killed in Srinagar

Srinagar: A J&K Bank security guard was killed in a firing incident in Hawal area of Srinagar City on Thursday afternoon.
A police official told a local news agency that two security guards were present at an ATM machine near Islamia College in Old City when a 12-bore-gun of one of the guards went off, with the shot hitting the chest of another guard.
However, it is yet to be ascertained whether the guard was fired at by his colleague or the rifle went off accidentally, the officer said.
The victim, identified as Mohammad Altaf Lala, son of Ghulam Ali, a resident of Saidpora, Eidgah, sustained serious bullet injuries and was immediately shifted to SKIMS Soura for treatment. “He later succumbed to injuries,” the officer said.
Meanwhile, police has arrested the other security guard, Javid Ahmad Dar, and he is being questioned.
