GANDERBAL: J&K Bank’s Tulmulla branch on Thursday organised a one-day financial literacy camp here at Sehpora hamlet of Sherpathri block in district Ganderbal.
The camp was organised in collaboration with Lead Bank and NABARD.
Cluster Head Ganderbal and the Lead Bank Manager of the district, Shafat Ahmad Kitab, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking at the function, where scores of people participated, Shafat asked people to avail various schemes of government like PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY and others. He also asked people to take benefits of NABARD and various other bank loans.
“Sherpathri hamlet has a great potential of willow wicker vocation. The people should approach the bank to avail different loan schemes so that the different units can be set up by the people, where they will not only have jobs for themselves but could provide jobs to other people as well”, said Kitab.
At the end of the function, a question-answer session was held in which the participants put volley of queries and questions to the officers. Branch Head JK Bank Tulmulla, Zahoor Ahmad Malik, was lauded by the general public for his customer-friendly and sober attitude.
Social worker and politician Farooq Ganderbali also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the service of the Tulmulla branch staff to the customers.
He along with senior citizens of the area requested the officials of the bank to set up a bank branch and ATM in the Sherpathri area, for which they have been moving from pillar to post since so many years. Kitab and Malik assured the people to take the matter to higher authorities. Pertinently, Sherpathri residents have also identified the land for the establishment of bank branch and ATM as well.
