Bar seeks intervention of civil society

SRINAGAR: J&K High Court Bar Association on Thursday condemned the “continued harassment and witch hunting” of Kashmiri students and businessmen outside the state, even as it sought intervention of the India’s civil society in the issue.
In an executive committee meeting held here, the Bar members said the harassment of Kashmiri students across India has created an insecurity among them.
Bar said it was responsibility of the college and university authorities to ensure safety and security of Kashmiri students and take care of their rights and interests.
“Since, these authorities are afraid of BJP and RSS, they are not taking steps to provide any kind of security to these students thus making their life miserable.” “The Association has therefore decided to request the conscious civil society members of India, college and university authorities and other human rights organisation and groups to come to rescue of these Kashmiri students,” the statement said.
