SRINAGAR: Stressing for the resolution of Kashmir issue, chairman Hurriyat Conference (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on Wednesday urged India and Pakistan to resume dialogue in the larger interest of the region.
“Keeping the Kashmir issue on backburner is not going to help the efforts of creating a conflict-free subcontinent anywhere. It may instead vitiate the atmosphere further,” leaders of the pro-freedom amalgam said in their executive council meeting held at the Raj Bagh headquarters.
The amalgam maintained that the issue should be addressed according to the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
“India-Pakistan leadership should create a favourable atmosphere by allowing the Kashmiri leadership from both sides of the divide to meet and exchange their views so as to deliberate upon and devise a practical common strategy to strengthen the dialogue process by representing the wishes and aspirations of the people of the state.”
